Spectacle Removal |
LASIK/ C-LASIK/ E-LASIK / SBK / ICL / Refractive lens exchange |
LASIK (Laser in-Situ Keratomileusis): |
It is a refractive surgical procedure that result in rapid recovery of vision and has the capability to benefit patients with Myopia (short sightedness), Hypermetropia (long sightedness) and astigmatism by reducing dependence on eye glasses and contact lenses. |
C-LASIK or Customised LASIK or Wave front guided LASIK: |
It is a better procedure to restore the quality vision. This procedure corrects spherical power, cylindrical power and higher order aberrations of human eye. C-LASIK gives a better quality of focus on the retina, result in a better sharpness of vision and better contrast sensitivity. |
Procedure: |
This is an OPD Procedure. Eye surgeon uses various high tech instruments and laser to reshape the cornea. |
Laser delivery 30-60 seconds |
No injection |
No pain |
No bandage |
E-LASIK (Laser in situ epithelial Kartomileusis): |
This procedure is done where cornea is thin. Micro-keratome is not used to cut the flap. |
SBK (Sub Bowman Keratomileusis): |
In this technique ultra thin flap of 100 microns instead of 160 microns lifted. Rest procedure is same on: LASIK / C- LASK. This technique is very useful in thin cornea. |
Femto Lasik |
The Femtosecond Laser is a "bladeless" procedure, used to cut and modulate the corneal tissue. It provides a more precise, predictable method for creating the corneal flap than the conventional mechanical microkeratome laser.
Advantages of the Femtosecond Laser |
more Stable Corneal Flaps |
Improved Wound Healing |
Faster Recovery of Vision |
Higher Biomechanical Stability |
Less risk of inflammation |
Less complications such as free flaps, button holes, flaps too small, not enough flap, folds or Surface |
damages etc. |
ICL (Implantable contact lens)/ IPCL/ Phakic IOL: |
ICL is an artificial lens, different from contact lens. This procedure is suitable for young persons who have very high power of glass and where such members are not corrected by LASIK / C-LASIK or Epi LASIK. |
An ultra thin lens of a special design and the required power is placed permanently inside the eye behind the Iris and in front of the eye’s natural lens. This lens corrects the spectacle power of the eye. ICL is a reversible procedure. |
Criteria for ICL: |
High myopia (more than -8 DSP) |
High hypermetropia |
Thin cornea (not suitable for LASIK/ Epi LASIK) |
Age of patient should be 20 to 40 yrs. |
Stable refraction for 2 years or more |
Patient should not have: |
Dry eyes |
Large pupil |
Pregnancy |
Types of ICL: |
Spherical ICL: corrects only spherical power of |
Toric ICL: Corrects cylinder along with spherical |
glasses. |
power of glasses |
Refractive lens exchange: |
This procedure recommended in patients over the age of 40 years and having high myopia or high hyper metropia. In this technique natural lens is replaced by an artificial intraocular lens of a suitable power, which can be monofocal, multifocal, Toric or multifocal toric. |
